Founder and Managing Director Conor O’Callaghan explains…
I often get asked where the name Millar Cameron comes from.
The business is actually named after my grandfather, in honour of the love and respect I hold for him.
A successful businessman and politician in Northern Ireland, he was a well-respected and well-regarded figure.
He owned a number of different businesses, mostly in agriculture, and became widely known in the Irish farming community, serving as Chairman and President of the County Antrim Agricultural Association for over a decade.
His involvement in agriculture was not restricted to Ireland. He was the Chairman of a major poultry equipment manufacturing company, which exported products all over the world, including into Africa.
His business acumen was recognised both at home and in the wider community. In Ballymena, he became a member of the Antrim County Council, achieving the positions of both Vice-Chairman and Chairman.
Politically, he was a member of the Irish Senate and respected for his progressive attitude to Irish politics.
His philanthropic work in his home town resulted in him being named a Freeman of the Borough, and he was also awarded an MBE.
