Millar Cameron is supporting TechnoServe in its recruitment efforts for a Senior Manager, Business Lead, who lead a key component of the project, which is to strengthen and increase commercially viable cashew enterprises through technical support. They will build processor capacity in business management, financial management, investment facilitation, HR, marketing, and supply chain development. They will also identify and address specific cashew processing constraints and support processors in introducing food safety management systems, environmental practices and traceability.
The Senior Manager, Business Lead will report to the Chief of Party and will manage the project’s capacity building efforts at improving profitability of cashew processors. They will support cashew processors to develop a robust supply chain and will coordinate with other activity leads, such as the Technical Support Lead and the Capital Investment Lead, to effectively build a robust pipeline of investable businesses.
The Senior Manager, Business Lead will assume the following responsibilities:
Develop a robust portfolio of profitable cashew processing units and key support enterprises that allows the project to reach its goal of 50% of raw cashew nut production processed into kernels domestically.
Provide technical oversight to a team of five business advisors who will build the capacity of 60 processing units.
Compile, analyse and report data on progress of processing units with key internal and external stakeholders.
Provide overall technical guidance and oversight of all activities under the project’s supply chain and marketing component.
Identify and support entrepreneurs to launch new processing units.
Ensure that women and other disadvantaged groups are integrated into the project’s activities and economically benefit.
Support processors to market their products and to pilot organic and fair trade certification programs.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or other related discipline plus 10 years’ experience in food processing, agribusiness, or supply chain management or a Master’s degree plus 7 years’ experience.
A minimum of 5 years’ people management experience including managing individuals and teams with diverse backgrounds.
Willingness to spend up to 40% of time travelling domestically in Côte d’Ivoire and internationally.
Experience in cashew or other food crop processing unit.
Experience in West Africa.
Experience providing training to people of diverse levels of education.
Proficiency in French is preferred.
