Global irrigation leader struggles to identify a critical hire for their international operations
The expanding operations of a global agricultural machinery manufacturer required the addition of a French speaking technical sales professional with in-depth agricultural knowledge
Millar Cameron’s client required a Service Project Manager to liaise between the European and African branches of the company.
Our client had a specific request for a French national with an agricultural mechanization qualification and previous experience working in Africa. The client had confirmed that they had gone direct to the market and had already shared this with their extensive network of contacts.
Millar Cameron’s team obtained a detailed and thorough job description from several key stakeholders. This provided the necessary content to develop a strategy that would identify the right people for the role.
At first, results proved unproductive and with the agreement of the client a new direction was taken. We decided to identify people who had experience of heavy machinery sales but had workplace experience of agriculture outside of Africa. In order to find a suitable candidate, the search was carried out in French at all stages.
Thanks to this change in approach a shortlist was created, Millar Cameron presented 3 French speaking candidates who all had significant experience working in strong heavy machinery sales with servicing skills and had previously worked with agricultural machinery.
Once presented to the client, each individual was interviewed using VOIP, followed by in-country interviews with the preferred candidate. All interview arranging, coordination and scheduling was led by the Millar Cameron delivery team.
Millar Cameron’s team, as with all placements, supported the candidate through the resignation process and assisted him in preparing for relocation.
Our client made an offer to our candidate two months after giving us the initial brief. This enabled them to carry out initial training in Europe before he flew to West Africa. A few months on and both parties are happy, the client is confident that the right person was hired and our candidate is happy to be working with one of the world’s most distinguished agricultural brands.
