Millar Cameron Places Regional Environment Health and Safety Manager for a World Leading Property Management firm.
Helping a multinational real estate client identify an Environmental Health and Safety Manager for their expansion in Israel.
The nature of facilities management is often cost driven and therefore cannot offer monetary opportunities. This proved to be a challenge when recruiting for the role of an Environmental Health and Safety Manager - and so we had to communicate the other benefits of the company to the candidates.
Millar Cameron’s client needed a replacement Regional EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) Manager, who had experience working in Facilities Management (FM). This scenario was particularly challenging as Facilities Management is not a mature market in Israel.
Their Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) portfolio in Israel was increasing, as their clients in the area were expanding. A key requirement was ensuring that their construction and re-fit project experience met our client’s EHS standards - this was a crucial detail that needed to be met and researched in depth.
Millar Cameron was approached by the Hiring Manager, who we had previously secured successful placements with. She believed that we had the ability to find a candidate with niche skills in under developed markets. It was our job to prove her right.
The search was led by one member of the research team, who contacted our network of construction contacts based in Israel, all of which we knew from previous recruitment projects.
We asked if they could recommend an EHS manager that they had worked with on construction projects. These contacts equipped us with the market knowledge required for such a demanding role, allowing us to penetrate relevant companies, job boards and professional associations to find six quality candidates in a short space of time.
The client’s budget was relatively undefined - which presented a challenge. When speaking to the market, we understood the salary bracket for a Regional EHS figure be towards the top end of what they would offer.
Six candidates were shortlisted and all went to first stage interview with the Hiring Manager. Four candidates then progressed to second stage with two senior decision makers, who went to meet with the Account Director on site in Israel.
All interviews were set up by Millar Cameron, including a rescheduling of an interview at a sensitive time, as one of the interviewers experienced a family bereavement.
At the offer stage, Millar Cameron acted as an intermediary, negotiating with both the preferred candidate and the client to ensure a package could be offered that would secure the perfect candidate. This included moving back the start date by a month so that the candidate could receive their annual bonus and therefore accept a lower base salary than he originally requested.
“It has been a pleasure to work with Millar Cameron. Throughout the recruitment process when I was dealing with them, I found them to be very proactive, supportive and professional. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Millar Cameron for your professional support during my recruitment process.
