Securing a Transport Manager for a leading international Property & Real Estate firm
After making the strategic decision to bring in a new Transport Manager, a leading international Property & Real Estate firm sought help from Millar Cameron - who were able to place the role within two weeks
Our client had a contract with a transport company, however they felt that they were not provided with an adequate service. With this in mind, the client made the decision to employ their own in-house Transport Manager. They required someone who had experience in stakeholder and contract management, in order to improve the current contract and oversee management - should they require a new transport provider.
This was a new role as the client had expanded their service offering in Cape Town to include their first transport service - which was going to be used as a trial.
As this was a newly created position, the client’s HR team decided that Millar Cameron would find the best candidate for this niche role.
During the search process, the client’s ideal candidate profile changed, which meant that we had to act quickly to find the right candidate whilst adapting to developing expectations.
The original brief was to find a Transport Manager with considerable experience who would be able to step in, coordinate and manage the project.
However, in light of the underperforming transport contract as well as difficulties with the local transport authority, the requirements of the role changed slightly.
The client required a candidate that could demonstrate experience in transport management, change management, client management and stakeholder management - as well as a relationship with the Cape Town transport authority or the gravitas to build this relationship.
We presented a shortlist of ten candidates and arranged for interviews both face to face and over the phone.
The candidate who was chosen had previously worked as a Transport Manager for numerous companies giving him excellent exposure to change management, stakeholder management and contract management - whilst also possessing pre-existing relationships with Cape Town
