Responsibilities
- Pro-actively provide high quality, yet pragmatic, legal guidance to the entire organisation, both at group level and operating companies in different countries.
- Give accurate and timely advice on a variety of legal topics (regulation, compliance, labour law, real estate, construction, partnerships, international ventures, corporate finance etc.)
- Ensure that adequate external legal advice and support is involved timely and efficiently.
- Draft and secure agreements, contracts, statements and other legal documents to ensure full legal rights
- Provide legal counsel in connection with on-going contractual relationships with domestic and international customers, suppliers, distributors, regulators, investors, external counsel and public authorities.
- Liaise with colleagues and external counsel on litigation, legal advice and other legal issues.
- Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, customers, investors, external counsel, public authorities etc.), creating relations of trust
- Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues
- Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance
Background
- Proven work experience as a Group Legal Counsel in a fast-growing international business environment working in multiple jurisdictions
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and company procedures in an international business environment
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity
- Law degree from a recognised university and 7+ years’ post qualification experience
- Critical reading skills and articulate, good drafting skills and highly effective in English
- Drafting and review skills of commercial agreements and company policies
- Competent, accurate, resourceful, independent, organised and able to prioritise and handle multiple projects with competing priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English and basic understanding of French
- Beneficial, but not mandatory to have previous experience in the datacentre, internet and/or
- telecommunications industry
