About the role
Based in Lagos, Nigeria, the CEO of Teach for Nigeria, will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership, driving organizational growth, galvanizing required resources and ensuring the effective implementation of TFN’s mission.
Key dimensions of the role
Vision and Leadership
- Provide hands-on executive leadership
- Collaborate with the Board, staff, and the global Teach For All network to set vision and strategy
- Drive measurable impact by improving student outcomes and teacher effectiveness
Operations Management
- Lead a diverse team of professionals, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization ensuring legal and regulatory compliance
- Oversee program implementation, monitoring and evaluation
Organization Development
- Build and enforce a strong core value based organizational culture among participants, alumni and staff
- Foster a culture that encourages openness, collaboration, growth, learning, and efficiency
Board Engagement
- Actively collaborate with the Board of Directors
- Explore ways to help current and potential board members support the organization
Financing and Fundraising
- Explore sustainable funding models and diversify revenue streams
- Secure financial resources necessary to operate and scale
- Harness existing and build new donor relationships
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, donors, partners, and other stakeholders
- Advocate for educational equity and policy changes at local and national levels
Representation and Communication
- Represent Teach for Nigeria at conferences, events, and media engagements
- Build understanding of and support for TFN’s vision and mission
Skills and experience
- A Bachelor’s degree with advanced degree in applicable areas (policy, education, management, business administration, etc.) desirable
- A minimum of 15 years cumulative experience (non-profits, social enterprise or global development) with at least 10 years leadership experience
- Proven track record of driving organizational growth and impact
- Familiarity with the Nigerian education system and context
