One of DR Congo's most respected and ambitious Groups of companies are looking for a Finance Director for their brewery in Kisangani.

About the role

The Finance Director will be responsible for the financial management of the Kisangani company / operating unit.

He/she will oversee financial activities, including accounting, management control, treasury management, and financial reporting, while ensuring the reliability of financial information and the economic performance of the entity.

He/she will support local senior management in strategic decision-making and works to optimise profitability, financial structure, and working capital requirements.

Key dimensions of the role

Financial Management

  • Oversee the company's financial performance. 

  • Support the General Manager and operational teams in financial analysis and decision-making. 

  • Participate in the development and implementation of local financial strategy. 

  • Ensure alignment of financial practices with group standards.

Management Control

The Finance Director must have a strong background in management control, particularly in an industrial and FMCG environment.
Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyse variances between actual results and forecasts.
  • Monitor margins by product and distribution channel.
  • Implement financial and operational performance dashboards.
  • Manage industrial and logistics costs.

In a brewery / FMCG environment, particular attention is paid to monitoring:

  • raw material costs
  • packaging costs
  • energy costs
  • production costs
  • logistics and distribution costs
  • inventory turnover
  • losses and breakage

Treasury Management

  • Oversee the company's treasury management.
  • Set up cash flow forecasts.
  • Optimise Working Capital Requirements (WCR).
  • Oversee relationships with local financial institutions and banking partners.
  • Participate in structuring financing, credit lines, and financial instruments.

Financial Reporting and Consolidation

  • Oversee the preparation of the company's financial statements.
  • Consolidate the entity's financial performance.
  • Produce regular financial reporting for headquarters or the group.
  • Ensure the reliability, consistency, and transparency of financial information.

Governance, Compliance, and Internal Control

  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (OHADA / IFRS as needed).
  • Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory obligations.
  • Oversee internal and external audits.
  • Establish and strengthen internal control procedures.

Financial Information Systems

  • Oversee the use and improvement of financial ERP systems.
  • Participate in optimising financial processes and reporting tools.
  • Develop the use of Business Intelligence tools (Power BI or equivalent) for performance monitoring.

Support for Strategic Projects

The Finance Director participates in the group's major projects, such as:

  • industrial investments
  • development of new production units
  • commercial expansion
  • organisational transformation projects
  • financing or acquisition transactions

Team Management

  • Supervise the company's finance team.
  • Oversee accounting managers, management controllers, and the treasury manager.
  • Develop the skills of the local team.
  • Ensure the dissemination of good financial practices within the organisation.

Skills and experience

Education

Master's degree (Bac +5) in:

  • Finance
  • Accounting
  • Management
  • Audit

Preferred qualifications:

  • Chartered Accountant
  • MBA in Finance
  • Master's in Management Control

Experience

Minimum of 10 to 12 years of experience, including:

  • significant experience in management control
  • experience in treasury management
  • experience in the FMCG or beverage industry sector
  • experience in an industrial environment

Experience in the Democratic Republic of Congo or in emerging African markets is an asset.
