About the role

Swisscontact is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager – M&E and KCM to join their Kenya team and drive excellence in project monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge management. The scope of this role could expand to cover the Central and Southern Africa (CESAF) region after 12 months.

Key dimensions of the role

  • Design, update, and implement M&E systems, strategies, and procedures.
  • Review and strengthen M&E processes and approaches.
  • Plan, budget, monitor, and evaluate M&E activities.
  • Lead capacity development for project staff and partners on monitoring and measurement practices.
  • Collaborate with country and head office teams as needed.
  • Ensure quality and timely monitoring of project activities and data for decision-making and reporting.
  • Manage and upgrade the Management Information System (MIS).
  • Aggregate impact and outreach data as per logframe targets.
  • Provide regular updates to the Team Leader on project quality and impact.
  • Build staff capacity on M&E systems, standards, tools, and methodologies.
  • Lead periodic reviews of result chains and M&E plans.
  • Consolidate and analyze data for progress reports (monthly, bi-annual, annual).
  • Facilitate integration of KCM in M&E systems by documenting best practices, innovative approaches, success stories, and challenges.
  • Promote a learning and knowledge-sharing culture to support strategy development and implementation.

Skills and experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, Economics, Project Management, or a related field.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Monitoring & Evaluation, preferably within international development, donor-funded projects, or NGOs.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing M&E systems, including logframes, theories of change, and results chains.
  • Proven track record in data management, analysis, and reporting for complex projects.
  • Experience in capacity building, training, and mentoring staff on M&E methodologies and tools.
  • Familiarity with DCED Standards, USAID MEL, Outcome Harvesting, Outcome Mapping, and other advanced evaluation frameworks is an asset.
  • Experience working with Management Information Systems (MIS) and digital data collection tools.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills, including quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Proficiency in data visualization and reporting software (e.g., Excel, Power BI, SPSS, Kobo Toolbox).
  • Ability to aggregate, interpret, and present impact and outreach data for decision-making and donor reporting.

Sector Knowledge:

  • Understanding of market systems development, inclusive economic growth, and adaptive learning approaches. Knowledge of evidence-based decision-making and adaptive management principles.
