The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Agriculture Project Manager for a 6-month renewable contract to oversee a high-impact agricultural development initiative in North Africa.

About the role

The successful candidate will lead a large-scale open field mechanized irrigated farming operation, specializing in arable crops such as maize, wheat, soybeans, or similar commodity crops. This role demands strong operational leadership to ensure productivity, efficiency, and sustainable farming practices.

Key dimensions of the role

  • Oversee and coordinate all agronomic processes while contributing to financial and HR management.
  • Manage technical, operational, and personnel-related activities within the assigned project.
  • Supervise on-field technical operations, including problem-solving, team coordination, and workflow optimization.
  • Oversee crop management (focus on arable crops), water resource efficiency (including pivot irrigation systems), and mechanized farming operations.
  • Lead HR processes, including team management, recruitment, and performance evaluation for the project staff.
  • Contribute to financial reporting in collaboration with the corporate finance team.
  • Act as the primary liaison between corporate stakeholders and the regional project team.
  • Maintain clear communication with senior leadership, functional managers, and external partners.
  • Report directly to the corporate leadership overseeing the project.

Skills and experience

  • 5-7 years of professional experience in farm/project management, preferably in mechanized irrigated farming on a large scale.
  • Experience with pivot irrigation systems is highly desirable.
  • University degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or related fields - or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) for reporting and data analysis.
  • Fluent in English and French (mandatory).
  • Valid driver’s license (mandatory).
