What’s your current role at Millar Cameron?
I am currently an Associate Consultant within the Agriculture Team, supporting lead consultants in mapping, candidate engagement, qualifications, and various administrative tasks throughout the recruitment process.
Why executive search? What led you to a career in this space?
While pursuing my degree in Psychology, I realised that I wanted to work in the corporate space, and a minor in Industrial Psychology seemed like the ideal route. As I explored the field, I was particularly drawn to recruitment. I found it fascinating to interact with people, learn about their career paths, and help them find positions that align with their goals. I was also interested in how psychometric tests are used and how my psychology background could enhance my effectiveness in this area.
Aside from being new and exciting, I discovered that executive search plays a critical role in shaping an organisation’s strategic direction. Being involved in this process is incredibly fulfilling, especially knowing that our work supports the economic development of Africa.

Recruiting for senior management, director and C-suite positions requires a unique skill set. How do you prepare your candidates for the recruitment process at this level?
First, I ensure I have a comprehensive understanding of the company and role so I can present an accurate and compelling picture to candidates. Then, I ensure that I understand the candidate’s experience so as to ensure it aligns to the candidate’s aspirations and the role's demands. This approach helps candidates envision themselves in the role, fostering a more meaningful connection to the opportunity, their impact in the role and the company.
ABOUT THE SECTOR
Is there any one single placement which you are most proud of? Or feel has had the greatest impact on the communities you are so passionate about?
Yes, placing the Medical Senior Commercial Director for SureChill was particularly rewarding. SureChill has developed a unique cooling technology that functions even with intermittent electricity, providing essential cold storage not only for vaccines and medical supplies but also for retail and home use in remote and off-grid areas. Supporting their mission to deliver critical healthcare solutions and reliable cooling options to areas with unreliable electricity has been incredibly fulfilling.
